Overview

The ESS-Databridge™ Development Group (DDG) was established in 2005 as ESS’s Users and Stakeholders Association.

The DDG provides a confidential forum where Users can familiarize themselves with the eDocs Services that ESS provides through the ESS-Databridge™ Exchange.  It is also a forum for users to provide feedback to improve these Services or discuss expansion into new Services.

The main roles of the DDG are:

  • Prepare to adopt eDocs, by interacting with such of their trade partners as are also Members, learning about the current status of eDocs adoption, including receipt of confidential information on all ongoing Pilots and Rollouts, and familiarising themselves with the Exchange in order to gain confidence in its ability to address their needs.
  • Adopt eDocs, by sharing with them the information required to assist in the smooth adoption of eDocs, such as delivery documentation and training materials, hosting Workshops in order to obtain participants’ feedback prior to using eDocs, and running simulation exercises to enable members’ hands on experience with CargoDocs™.
  • Improve the eDocs Services they receive, by actively taking part in guiding the functional and operational direction of the ESS-Databridge™ and in the development of the ESS-Databridge™ Services and Users Agreement (DSUA).
  • Regulate the DDG and the use of the Exchange through the DDG Executive Committee and the DDG Charter, which defines the structure of the DDG.
  • Facilitate the transition to universal adoption of eDocs in international trade by sharing information about the industry’s interest in adopting eDocs and working with DDG Members, International Organizations and Standards

The DDG is governed by the Executive Committee which is responsible for its overall management and control.  The DDG is run on a day-to-day basis by ESS (EMEA) Limited.
